Packaging line integration

Fillers, cappers, labelers and case packers run on their own machine controls, and they should. The value is in connecting them to the process that feeds them.

Process meets packaging

The handover between process and packaging is where many food and beverage plants lose information. The process system knows which batch is in the bright tank or the filler bowl. The packaging line knows how many units it made. Connecting the two gives you:

  • Lot continuity. Finished-goods codes tied back to the process batch and its raw materials. Traceability →
  • Correct changeovers. The line is told which SKU is coming, so the label, code and pack format match the product.
  • Shared status. Standardized machine states (in the style of PackML) let the process slow down or hold when the line stops, instead of overfilling buffers.
  • Real production counts for yield and efficiency, reported against each batch.

Components for packaging machinery

Gross Automation also supplies the drives, motion, PLCs, safety and electrical components that packaging equipment is built from, for OEMs and for plant maintenance teams keeping existing lines running. See products →

Bring the log book. We'll tell you what fits.

Show a Freelance engineer how your batches are run and recorded today: a new process, a line expansion or a control-system migration. We'll tell you plainly whether a DCS, a PLC or something in between is the right next step.
